Honors String Orchestra

The Honors String Orchestra is an outreach program of the BBSO which is supported by grants from the Michigan Council for the Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Village Women’s Club of Bloomfield Hills.
Made up of string players, young and old, it enables music students to be mentored by BBSO musicians in a workshop environment and then perform in a public concert.
Julia C. Kurtyka, the BBSO administrator and assistant concertmaster, is director of the project and conductor of the orchestra. Her goal is to give string students an opportunity to have fun with music and meet new players.
