A Professional Orchestra in Our Own Backyard
80% of BBSO musicians are union members and are paid professional rates
Location, location, location
the BBSO is close for everyone to enjoy their concerts
BBSO Organization contributes to a pension fund for BBSO musicians
75% of BBSO members are full-time freelance musicians or music teachers
The BBSO draws its musicians from all over Southeast Michigan and many BBSO musicians perform regularly in other professional orchestras, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, Windsor Symphony, Flint Symphony, Toledo Symphony, Fisher Theatre, etc.
The BBSO has been hired by outside organizations to perform with many celebrity acts, including Henry Mancini, The Moody Blues, Yanni, Harry Belafonte, Neil Sedaka, and Art Garfunkle. Also, many area churches hire BBSO Ensembles for specialized programs.
The majority of BBSO musicians have been with the organization for more than 20 years, and six charter members are still with us after 32 years

Twelve times the BBSO has won the Motor City Music Award for the best community orchestra in the Detroit area
Cable TV productions of our concerts have won broadcast awards
The BBSOs Sounds of the Season holiday CD was the best selling classical CD in the entire Detroit market for several weeks when first available
Our Conductors have been awarded for the adventuresome programming
