You won't need to go the Opera House to enjoy this program of orchestral music - without voices - from the world of opera. This concert of music from the "classical" era features the superb strings, winds, brass and timpani of the BBSO. Mozart's elegant overture is followed by Hunnel's exuberant trumpet concerto with our own virtuoso Timothy Krohn taking the star turn. You'll enjoy the stately splendor of Handel's Water Music and the solid eloquence of Haydn's mature symphony. It is our "classic" valentine to you.

Rossini's sprightly Sinfonia of 1808 oepns the evening followed by Bizet's Roma, a rarity full of melody and charm from teh composer of Carmen. Schubert's Overture "In the Italian Style" is the warm-up for Mendelssohn's dramatic Symphony No. 4, a powerful work inspired by his Italian journey. Enjoy this exciting tour of the fabled, eternal Italy.

The genius of the north, Jean Sibelius, headlines the program with his mighty Symphony No. 5. The orchestra soars from the triumphal first to the powerhouse final movement. Our talented BBSO Young Artist Competition winner is featured next on a concerto movement with the orchestra. We look forward to summer with Mendelssohn, then brace ourselves for the season finale, Ravel's blazing tour de force, Boléro. Dont miss a minute of this thrilling evening.
